Well, I've certainly been an absentee administrator! In my defense let me say that we have math finals coming up in our house and my son came down with a wicked case of flu. Then, my insurance company decided I needed to do some home improvements, s…

You're my hero! Go for it. Just don't forget that all that sugar can dull your senses too when you go into "let down". It's a vicious cycle. Take care of yourself and slam dunk! One of these days I'll say, "yes, I have 32 plot points already worked…

Oh, I'll add in editing as well, but as it stands there's some disjointed scenes here. Either I'll have to rework the way it's playing out and slow things down to add more of the dark scenes to the novel... or they'll be cut out completely (This sad…

Wow! I expect to add words in the editing process. I hope anyway. I'm sure I forgot some scenes in my rush to the finish line. I'm not so organized as you, although I did have an outline of sorts. 80,000 is good, you'll be fine I think.

Yes. I'm stubborn. I can barely see straight at this point (it's nearly 2:30am here) and I'm sitting here REFUSING to go to bed until I have at least 66,000 words. I won't be at the black Friday sales, I'll be home with Gideon. :) Who, might I add…

I see you're getting really close. If you can resist the Blsck Friday sales - ha ha - you'll "sail" right over the finish line. Way to go!

Yeah, I just used it as my main photo for now. :P I'll change back to something else once November passes.

Tracy, to complete the loop here, I discovered the halo is not for winning in the past but for contributing to NaNoWriMo's coffers. Congratulations- onward and upward :)

Okay, How did you get your winner's badge to show up next to your name in all of your posts?

Thanks. I'll need all the cheering I can get. I'm now running into continuity issues. I jumped ahead a bit in an effort to skip over some medical issues and slower scenes while on my way to the 50K and now I can't seem to get the scenes in the right…

I'll be cheering you to the finish line! :-)

Erm, maybe? LOL. I figure if I do 2K a day I can hit 70K. That should be REAL close to full first draft. I've got a file here showing that I have about 12 more plot points to write. I just took a 2 hour nap to warm up and I'm back grooving to Lady…

Can't wait to see you hit 70,000. This you'll do it by 11/30?

Blog Carnival

Here's an opportunity for those of you who have something to say about book marketing, or writing and publishing to be heard and get exposure for ;yourself, your books and your blogs. It's sponsored by Tate Publishing.  It seems like a pretty big deal.  You can even be a Carnival host.  You can look at past articles to get an idea of what to submit.  This may be the last one for the year, so get your blog articles in before the 23rd.  Its official date is the 25th.  Here's the link. … Continue

Do you need an agent?

While there are certainly a good deal of publishing houses out there that will take you without one, the majority of the major houses will not.  They rely on the agents to basically weed out the undesirable manuscripts and only pitch those that have a chance at selling.  A great resource for finding information such as this can actually be found on the publisher's websites themselves.  They want you as educated as possible before you send in your submission.  Finding these publishers and agen

Congratulations to everyone who participated in NaNoWriMo ! It's a wonderful ride. Kudos to all of you who crossed the finish line. I don't think it would be inappropriate to name some names. Our own Poysen and John Philipp are winners of NaNoWriMo. If you get the chance, give them a virtual pat on the back for a job well done.

Time Goes By So Quickly

Well, I've certainly been an absentee administrator! In my defense let me say that we have math finals coming up in our house and my son came down with a wicked case of flu. Then, my insurance company decided I needed to do some home improvements, so I've been working with contractors and working in the yard frantically to appease the inspectors. Even so, they want more. I've spent more than I can afford already. Anyway, suffice to say, I've been quite distracted.

I hope all is well with you. D… Continue

Daughter Am I Blog Tour -- Final Week

My Daughter Am I blog tour is winding down -- I have seven days to go (eight if you include today) and I don't know whether to be sad or to rejoice. Since my promotion motto is "Promotion is just another word for party," I decided to rejoice and have an end of blog tour party on the 22nd and 23rd. You are all invited, of course.

The most interesting aspect of the tour has been coming up with unique guest pos… Continue

Live Chat and Dead Darling

This seems to be a slow weekend here on the Internet. I can never figure out where people disappear to or why. What could possibly be more fascinating than roaming cyberspace? :) I realize in some places the weather is too nice to stay inside, in other places it's too nasty to do anything online. Many writers are involved in National Novel Writing Month. Many others are busy procrastinating. And me . . . well, here I am, still virtually book touring.

Today's stops:

Contests: Watch Out For The Fine Print

Before you click submit, make sure you've read the fine print. I don't know about other contests specifically, but Writer's digest has changed their policy to require that the Writer give "perpetual non-exclusive publication rights" to the work in order to enter the contest. Right now, the submit box doesn't differentiate between the winners and any other contestant, but I have been assured by representatives of Writer's Digest that it only applies to the winning entries. But, as far as I'm conc… Continue
